Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Corporate Counsel I to join our team in Holland, MI.
As a Corporate Counsel I, you will:
Support corporate initiatives of and represents Company for a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. The primary focus is to provide guidance to internal members regarding relating to commercial contract terms and conditions for both purchasing and sales organization. Reviews, edits, and drafts documents as required by Company.
Do you have these required qualifications?
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law within the state of Michigan, or able to obtain licensure in Michigan within one year.
- Three years or more of related attorney experience, including in-depth corporate law experience, with emphasis on contract law (drafting, editing, and negotiating).
Do you have these preferred qualifications?
- Extensive contract review and negotiation experience.
- Legal experience with a manufacturing company.
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and cases.
- Ability to identify risk and resolve issues quickly.
- Professional demeanor with high degree of confidentiality.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills.
- Superior negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as member of teams.
- Ability to travel as and when required by Company.
- PC and keyboard/mouse skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides timely communication of identified issues, status updates, and recommendations to legal Manager and Legal Affairs Vice President to ensure he/she is current on all issues and can provide direction to company.
- Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and advises on contracts and agreements to support commercial activities of Company. Monitors these commercial agreements to ensure compliance with antitrust, privacy, and consumer law in territories of their application.
- Researches, develops, and maintains policy and position on legal issues to provide guidance to organization for legal and business issues.
- Takes on various legal projects as assigned from time to time to assist with driving completion of Legal department strategies.
- Assists with establishing, disseminating, and training of compliance and policy changes to all levels of organization to ensure all members are trained according to most recent laws.
- Provides legal advice and counsel to internal members regarding company issues to ensure legal compliance.
- Utilizes personal computer (PC) and keyboard/mouse while performing functions of position. Travels overnight away from corporate offices, including internationally.
