Job Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our team in Big Rapids, MI.   The position will work Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, depending upon operational needs.  

As a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will play a role in executing a broad range of HR responsibilities with a degree of independence, supporting our plant in Big Rapids, MI.  This position requires strong knowledge of HR policies and procedures to effectively analyze situations and contribute to practical, strategic solutions. Collaboration with HR colleagues and business leaders is essential to support the implementation of HR programs and initiatives that align with organizational goals, contributing to both local and regional HR initiatives.  The HRBP helps foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture—one that supports employee engagement, development, and retention.  The role is exciting due to its cross-functional collaboration with the HRBP team and HR Centers of Excellence, and its impact on plant-level operations.  The role will contribute to the design and implementation of key HR programs, leveraging your in-depth knowledge of HR principles and best practices to solve complex problems.

This role requires experience across multiple HR disciplines, including employee relations, coaching, workplace investigations, and problem resolution. Proven ability to counsel team members and managers through complex situations is essential, along with the capability to evaluate talent selection and development programs for effectiveness and alignment with company values. This position contributes to making Haworth an employer of choice in the Big Rapids area by helping to shape a workplace where people thrive and business goals are achieved.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned plant(s), supporting employee relations, talent development, and compliance.
  • Lead and manage HR initiatives, such as talent management, succession planning, and organizational development.
  • Provide strategic HR guidance to business leaders, aligning HR initiatives with business objectives.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Manage complex member relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Conduct HR audits to assess compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Analyze HR metrics to identify trends and measure the effectiveness of HR programs.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a similar relevant field of study.
  • Education Equivalency:
    • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a similar relevant field of study, plus 2 years of Human Resources experience, or
    • 4 years of Human Resources experience if no post-secondary education.

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

In addition: 

  • Must be able to work onsite in Big Rapids, MI, without relocation assistance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time. (Quarterly trips to HQ in Holland, MI)
  • Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to support Spanish-speaking employees in navigating various human resources questions or concerns.
  • Certifications/Licensures: Human Resources Professional (SHRM, PHR, CPHR).
  • SAP (Success Factors) experience.
  • HR experience in an hourly manufacturing environment supporting multiple locations or value streams with 50+ headcount.
  • 3 or more years of Human Resources experience is preferred. 
  • Furniture industry experience.
