Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Big Rapids. The level hired in at will be based on experience. The minimum requirements are posted.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

 

Support the Haworth production line. Ensuring adherence to quality and quantity standards, you will develop, evaluate, implement and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences and processes to manufacture and/or assemble components and/or finished devices on the production line. Design, develop, install and document new and/or existing process, tooling, continuous improvement and capital equipment projects. Ensure performance (business, profit, and manufacturing) to specification. Conduct cost reduction activities to determine material, labor, and overhead costs. Assure highest quality, least costly manufacturing processes. 

 

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Technology, or equivalent (In lieu of Bachelor degree, an additional 2 years of work experience is required for every 1 year of education not completed).
  • Ability to climb/bend/balance in manufacturing environment and lift/move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CAD (design) systems, analysis procedures; word processing and spread sheet applications; PC and keyboard/mouse skills.
  • 2D/3D cad skills to enable transforming ideas into actual solutions.
  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight away from corporate offices.
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • The ability to commute and work on-site in Big Rapids, MI without relocation assistance.
  • This role occasionally requires early hours to gain 3rd shift visibility, information handoff, and support.

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Experience in engineering role with the minimum of 1 full time internship
  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience developing technical documentation
  • Experience in welding, fabrication, stamping, plastics, gage/fixture tooling, sheet metal, assembly, coating processes

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

  • Take ownership of your work and need no prompting to drive productivity, change, and outcomes.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally. Demonstrated ability to build and leverage cross-functional relationships to bring together ideas, data and insights to drive continuous improvement in functions.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in development-oriented team environment.
  • Go beyond just fixing to identify root causes, evaluate optimal solutions, and recommend comprehensive upgrades to prevent future issues.
