Job Overview

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing machine programs that support the production of high-end office chairs, lounge seating, and other upholstered ancillary products. This role manages Pathfinder dispatch, develops CNC cutting programs, troubleshoots production issues, and collaborates closely with manufacturing teams in a cell-based environment to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Using AutoCAD, CNC software, and related tools such as AlphaCAM and PathWorks, the CNC Programmer creates and updates detailed part and assembly drawings while applying knowledge of fabric characteristics and cutting processes. The position works under moderate supervision and partners with engineers, technicians, and production team members to support safe, accurate, and efficient manufacturing operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering drawings and sketches to determine manufacturing processes, tooling, and CNC programming requirements.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software for new and revised parts, including tool path generation and tool selection.
  • Collaborate with engineers to establish accurate labor standards and cost estimates for CNC machining operations.
  • Operate CNC equipment for process improvement testing, first article inspection, and troubleshooting.
  • Train operators on the safe and effective operation of CNC equipment.
  • Develop and maintain tooling standards and documentation for CNC machining processes.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to reduce cycle times and improve the efficiency of CNC machining operations.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School or equivalent
  • Education Equivalency: Relevant certification or vocational training may be preferred
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in CNC programming, CAD/CAM systems, or manufacturing operations involving the cutting and processing of fabric, upholstery, textile, foam, leather, or similar materials.
  • Applicants must be able to work in Conover, NC without relocation assistance.
  • Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming CNC equipment for fabric, upholstery, or other soft-material cutting applications
  • Experience developing patterns, nests, and cutting layouts for manufacturing operations
  • Experience programming CNC plywood or wood-processing equipment
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and CNC programming software
  • Ability to analyze engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to develop manufacturing solutions
  • Ability to determine appropriate processes, tooling, and CNC programming requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment
  • Continuous improvement (CI) mindset with a focus on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction
