We are currently looking for a Associate Quality Engineer to join our team in Holland.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Quality Engineer who is passionate about improving customer satisfaction through data driven problem solving and continuous improvement. This role supports manufacturing by addressing top Pareto issues, auditing processes and team members, and inspecting products to ensure quality standards are met. The ideal candidate is observant, communicative, and customer focused, with a strong interest in identifying gaps and driving solutions. Daily responsibilities include analyzing scrap and complaint data, conducting audits, and responding to quality related questions from internal teams and external partners. You’ll also assist senior engineers in executing product testing and analysis procedures to support broader quality initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze Engineering Change Orders: Analyze Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to prepare and update necessary documentation (first piece, inspection instructions, and process potential studies) as defined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for closure
  • Conduct Supplier Audits: Attend supplier equipment and part qualification runs to identify and resolve quality problems
  • Manage Corrective Action Systems: Coordinate and maintain corrective action systems (for internal and external failures) to ensure efficient and effective problem identification, prioritization, and correction
  • Coordinate Calibration Processes: Coordinate calibration methodology and process, ensuring the system and database provide current tools, methodologies, and sources to calibrate equipment in-house or by vendor
  • Define Quality Systems: Define and coordinate quality systems consistent with International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001 requirements
  • Develop Data Collection Systems: Develop and initiate systems to gather data for analysis and reporting on plant operations
  • Troubleshoot Operational Issues: Serve as a team member with plant operations and production personnel to troubleshoot operational issues on a daily basis to determine root cause and support corrective actions.

  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field of study
  • Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
  • Work Experience: No professional experience required.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull product up to 100 lbs with or without accommodations
  • Comfortable climbing ladders or stairs and using hand tools weighing 5–10 lbs
  • Willingness to work in environments with moderate exposure to dust, noise, solvents, heat, paint, and lubricants

  • Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings
  • Proficient in using calipers, linear gauges, and digital indicators
  • Strong color acuity with the ability to accurately differentiate subtle color variations
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or a related field
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred
  • Skilled in applying problem-solving tools such as PDCA and 5Why
  • Hands-on experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
