Job Overview

We are currently looking for a 1st Shift HVAC Technician to join our team in Holland, MI.

 

As an HVAC Technician, you will:

  • Provides services necessary to maintain HVAC and energy management systems in routine or emergency situations to all Haworth facilities. Installs, and maintains Facilities’ Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, validating activities with lead licensed HVAC Tech.

  • Maintains knowledge and skills in all HVAC crafts, repairs, and duties.

Required Qualifications

 

EDUCATION

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

 

WORK REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years HVAC commercial or industrial experience.

  • Requires a working knowledge of current state and local mechanical codes and validates adherence.

  • Must hold Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification to perform refrigerant recovery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to maintain knowledge of maintenance and related test equipment, voltage testers, small tools, and air measurement instruments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification for Aerial Lift and Fall Protection, Overhead Crane, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, and Confined Space Entry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals in order to perform repairs.
  • Ability to utilize appropriate electronic production system and maintenance management system to complete job duties, along with the respective technology tools, e.g. personal computer (PC), tablet, keyboard, mouse, RF gun.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with current equipment and latest job-related test equipment.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles, material handling equipment, and aerial lifts (to heights of 60 feet), including accessing and operating bucket controls.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting equipment outages and failures.

Major Responsibilities

  • Performs extensive preventive maintenance on HVAC-related equipment, ensuring timely completion of repairs and reduced downtime of equipment. Inspects all equipment for defective or worn parts. Replaces filters, fills oil and lubrication levels, and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Leads monitoring, schedules, documents, and updates all HVAC and energy management records as needed, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all HVAC and other related equipment; coordinates and/or installs/ repairs electrical and plumbing systems related to HVAC equipment; and constructs, designs, builds, installs, and starts-up all HVAC equipment to support plant and company goals.
  • Installs and maintains all heating boilers, humidification systems, environmental climate control equipment, energy management systems, and any equipment relating to operation of HVAC or building monitoring functions, ensuring efficient operation of systems.
  • Installs and maintains all cafeteria equipment, including ovens, grills, deep fryers, steamers, and other related equipment.
  • Coordinates and oversees external service vendors when necessary to repair and maintain HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Creates and completes work requests and work orders, sources parts from tool crib, and obtains historical work orders information. Maintains documentation of equipment; completes all appropriate paperwork.
  • Leads vendor management program, assisting with issuance of RFP’s, onboarding vendors and onsite verification of task completion. External vendors are utilized to supplement in-house task management. Issues purchase requisitions and processes invoices with accounts payable.
  • Contacts suppliers to gather information and discuss performance and service issues and warranty claims and obtain quotes.
  • Responsible for validation that external vendors are completing contractual obligations.
  • Team with all business sectors on understanding their concerns and needs to ensure a safe and compliant site.
