Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Lead International Trade Specialist to join our team in Holland, MI. 

 

As a Lead International Trade Specialist you will: 

 

Provide strategic direction and technical expertise across supply chain and international trade activities to optimize operations and achieve business objectives. Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex supply chain challenges, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies while influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement comprehensive programs to ensure adherence to United States and foreign customs regulations.
  • Provide oversight and management for all trade compliance activities, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, Free Trade Agreement certifications, and import/export documentation.
  • Effectively provide strategic direction to a team of professionals, driving continuous improvement and performance.
  • Develop and deliver engaging training programs on international trade compliance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential compliance issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to optimize international supply chain and logistics operations.
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry best practices.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or similar.
  • 7 years experience in International Trade, Trade Compliance, or similar (5 years experience with Master’s Degree)
  • Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
  • Military Equivalency at www.mynextmove.org/vets/find/military

Preferred Qualifications

  • U.S. Customs Broker License (CBL) strongly preferred. Other recognized international trade, customs, import/export, or trade compliance certifications (e.g., CCS, CES, CGBP, CECP, or international equivalents) will be considered.
  • Experience with CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements, including supply chain security programs, cargo flow mapping, and risk assessment activities.
  • Experience supporting forced labor compliance initiatives, including supplier due diligence, regulatory monitoring, and compliance with global trade and sourcing requirements.
  • Experience supporting international trade activities in Europe and/or Asia, with an understanding of regional trade, customs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to independently research and interpret international trade regulations, customs requirements, and government agency guidance using domestic and international regulatory resources.
  • Experience collaborating with international affiliates, sales organizations, and cross-functional stakeholders across multiple geographic regions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, complex formulas, data analysis, and macros.
  • Experience using Power BI to develop reports, dashboards, and actionable business insights.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and related collaboration tools.
  • Interest in and practical exposure to artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, with a demonstrated willingness to leverage technology to improve trade compliance, reporting, research, and process efficiency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership skills with the ability to work independently in a complex global trade environment.
