Haworth is seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Maintenance & Engineering Supervisor to lead skilled trades and technical teams on 1st Shift in improving equipment reliability, uptime, safety, and operational performance. This role requires a strong manufacturing maintenance background, proven leadership experience, and the ability to leverage data, technology, continuous improvement, and emerging tools to drive practical solutions on the plant floor. Essential Functions

  • Lead and develop a team of maintenance professionals and skilled trades members.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Safety, and Operations teams to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
  • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies that reduce downtime and improve productivity.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance.
  • Utilize technology, automation, data analytics, and emerging AI tools to identify opportunities and solve business challenges.
  • Establish priorities, make timely decisions, and foster a culture of urgency and accountability.
  • Coach and mentor team members while building strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and long-term maintenance planning.
  • Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis efforts related to equipment, processes, and operational performance.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of industrial equipment, maintenance systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to drive results through others while maintaining strong relationships and team engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in machine repair, electrical, maintenance, reliability, engineering, or related manufacturing discipline.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience leading technical, maintenance, engineering, or cross-functional manufacturing teams.
  • State of Michigan Journeyman certification in Machine Repair, Electrical, Tool & Die, or related skilled trade preferred.
  • Experience in furniture manufacturing or another complex manufacturing environment.
  • Experience applying Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or related methodologies to improve safety, quality, uptime, and cost performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic maintenance planning, including preventive, predictive, or condition-based maintenance approaches.
  • Strong digital aptitude, including experience using CMMS/EAM systems, dashboards, analytics, predictive technologies, or AI-enabled tools to improve reliability and operational performance.
  • Working knowledge of industrial systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, automation, controls, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to translate technical insights into practical floor-level execution.
  • Proven ability to influence change, challenge the status quo, coach teams through adoption, and drive accountability while maintaining positive working relationships.
