Job Overview

We are looking for a Weekend Shift Manufacturing Technician for our wood plant in Holland, MI. The typical hours are Fri-Sun 6am-6:30pm.

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will: 

 

This position is the expert on the edge banders in the plant.  A Manufacturing Tech will work with outside vendors as well as internal technicians, maintenance, and engineering to help maintain and troubleshoot the banders. You will assist in training and will be the contact to help operators when they are having issues with running quality parts. While help will be available you will have a lot of freedom to pursue improvements in our banding processes and on our equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains standard work for equipment for which they are responsible. Audits member performance to standard work to ensure conformance.                
  • Trains members in proper operation and maintenance of equipment, including, but not limited to, startup, operation, changeover, shutdown, and operator preventative maintenance, to ensure self reliance of members operating equipment.                
  • Trains machine operators, technicians, maintenance, or engineers to operate equipment safely at standard work cycle times to meet corporate safety goals and assure performance to productivity standards.                
  • May substitute for other operators and operate equipment (not to exceed 25%) to maintain expertise.                
  • Develops tooling programs, orders tooling, and trains members to manage tooling changes to ensure good balance between part quality and tooling costs.                
  • Ensure proper setup and commissioning of technical equipment along with training of proper setup to technical leadership.                
  • Maintains Haworth quality standards to ensure aesthetic and dimensional control of processed parts. 
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job function with/without accommodation.
  • Ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.               

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School or equivalent


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with edge bander

Additional Requirements

  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to work and commute onsite for weekend shift, to our wood plant in Holland, MI 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of edge bander experience
  • Certification or vocational training 
  • Good organizational and follow through
  • Aptitude for learning mechanical concepts
  • Exposure and competency in lean improvement initiatives
  • Experience with laminated products

Skills

  • High level mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Ability to train members in use of operation and maintenance of complex equipment.
  • Ability to develop and document standard work, utilizing Haworth Management System (HMS) tools.
  • Good organization and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to be frequently exposed to dirt, dust, noise, and small particulate matter.
