Job Summary
We are currently looking for a Product Engineer to join our team in an on-site position in Holland, MI.
Join our innovative Case Goods engineering team, where you'll design and document new products and enhancements while applying core engineering principles to ensure quality and manufacturability. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to determine optimal materials, processes, and cost structures, contributing to strategic product development in a fast paced, learning focused environment. This role blends research and support functions, offering opportunities to explore new materials, processes, and product concepts that elevate modern office storage solutions. Ideal candidates bring strong Creo (CAD) skills preferably with automation experience alongside SAP proficiency and an appreciation for the complexity of low volume, high iteration office furniture. Job Responsibilities
- Independently designs and develops new products, processes, tooling, or improvements to existing ones using engineering principles; provides documented recommendations to senior engineers or managers.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering to identify cost effective, manufacturable solutions that enhance profitability and market share.
- Conducts material investigations and selection using CAD and engineering tools to reduce labor and overhead costs.
- Participates in “make vs. buy” feasibility studies and presents cost analyses and integration recommendations.
- Creates Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and prepares tooling and equipment documentation; applies statistical and tolerance analysis techniques to ensure product quality.
- Partners with Designers/Detailers to ensure form, fit, and function of designs using CAD tools.
- Develops documentation to support tooling quotes, manufacturing processes, and cost analysis for product implementation.
- Builds prototypes for performance and reliability testing; coordinates test plans and evaluates results against industry standards.
- Analyzes competitive products for materials, processes, performance, and packaging to assess market competitiveness.
- Prepares and presents Requests for Expenditure (RFEs) for capital justification using PC-based software.
- Works with Quality Assurance to ensure product design and manufacturing meet quality standards.
- Maintains and updates ISO and Haworth Quality System documentation.
- Stays current on materials, CAD systems, analysis tools, and manufacturing methods; shares knowledge with team members.
- Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
- Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar field of study
- Education Equivalency: Associate Degree plus 2 years of furniture experience OR 4 years of furniture experience
- 2 years of product engineering experience

- Ability to assist with assembly and installation of tooling and or equipment, using power and hand tools. Lifts/moves parts weighing up to 70 pounds with or without accommodations
- Occasionally travels to other plants, customer, supplier, or research sites to gather product and process information no more than 10% of the time
- Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance
- Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 or more years of experience in engineering case goods or similar storage products
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a small, learning-focused team environment
- Self motivated in seeking information and resolving project roadblocks independently
- Proficient in Creo, including experience with automated CAD modeling
- Familiarity with SAP and its application in engineering workflows
- Detail oriented with a strong investigative mindset and problem solving approach
- Experience designing specialized, custom products in the furniture industry
- Working knowledge of BIFMA standards and DFMEA practices
