Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team in Holland.
As a Sales Engineer, you will:
Coordinate testing and listing activities necessary to achieve agency compliance for all product lines. Assist with understanding and presentation of technical product data for correct utilization and satisfactory operation of Haworth products by prospective clients and end users. Conduct surveys for warranty administration; conduct seminars on correct applications and management of systems.
Essential Functions
- Engages with cross functional product teams and Product Line Management (PLM) members to identify, budget, and lead agency compliance activities, ensuring results are on time and within budget.
- Participates on Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) committees. Assumes ownership of Haworth’s internal communication, engagement, and response to all committee ballots and standard changes to ensure Haworth’s best interests are served.
- Serves as contact for all dealer and field sales technical inquires regarding product performance and code compliance. Responds to written and verbal requests for data and information on product performance and/or code compliance from field (area offices, dealers, end-users, agencies having jurisdiction, prospective clients, and Architectural and Design [A&D] representatives) to increase sales, engaging cross-functional experts as needed.
- Maintains database on technical information of all Haworth products for use by multiple disciplines to ensure availability of critical information needed to support product sales and support. Ensures information is timely, accurate and accessible.
- Meets with building officials to negotiate settlement of code applications. Meets with state and/or city health department officials on solutions of reported health problems to obtain better understanding of code requirements and more advantageous outcome to sales projects.
- Conducts investigations of product problems on-site as requested by field sales or warranty personnel. Develops methodology and selects and operates appropriate test equipment to survey and report problems. Follows-up on methods and/or procedures to correct problems, resulting in fewer future problems and lower costs.
- Maintains professional and technical association memberships as necessary to remain current with industry technology. Shares advance information of pending changes and/or additions/deletions in codes/standards with affected departments.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

- Uses office automation,communication,software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in relevant field of study or equivalent
- Education Equivalency: Associate Degree plus 2 years related exp OR 4 years related exp
Work Experience:
- 5 years related experience with Bachelor's Degree
- 3 years related experience with Master's Degree

Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel away from home office including international for up to 15-25% of the time
- Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to work and commute onsite daily to our headquarters in Holland, MI (relocation assistance is not provided)
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer facing experience
- Experience in engineering laboratory, technical product application environment, or process engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with emphasis in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshooting experience, ability to think outside the box
- Experience negotiating
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in electrical, acoustics, structural engineering and/or chemistry
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
- Working familiarity with office systems products
- Excellent writing and communication skills
