Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Model Maker specializing in advanced upholstery and sewing to support both production and engineering teams. This role serves as a key instructor and trainer, sharing expertise while developing innovative solutions for complex and atypical assignments. The ideal candidate works independently, determines the best approach for new challenges, and acts as a technical resource for less experienced colleagues with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for craftsmanship are essential to drive quality and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new and existing products, including process flow analysis, tooling selection, and labor standard development.
  • Conduct process qualifications, experiments, and data analysis to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and process specifications.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve product quality, resolve manufacturing problems, and conduct initial production approvals.
  • Utilize advanced metrology equipment and inspection techniques to ensure product quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel on manufacturing processes and quality standards.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School or equivalent 
  • Work Experience: 3+ years of experience in upholstery, sewing, and product development
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
  • Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embroidery techniques and specialty stitching
  • Knowledge of pattern making and material layout processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot 
  • Demonstrated experience as a trainer or instructor, with the ability to effectively transfer knowledge
  • Relevant certification or vocational training
  • Ability to manage and adapt to fluctuating workloads, including handling spikes in production demand
