We are currently looking for a Senior Operations Manager to join our wood plant in Holland, MI.

Job Overview

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to lead a portion of Haworth's Wood Laminated Products Plant (LPP). In this role, you will provide strategic and day to day guidance to plant leaders and several manufacturing teams across multiple shifts. This is a fast paced, growth focused plant where innovation, continuous improvement, and hitting targets are critical. This role entails developing departmental plans, managing a large budget, allocating resources, driving a positive workplace culture for our members, setting priorities to achieve organizational objectives, and making strategic decisions to optimize manufacturing output. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership: Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align manufacturing strategies with overall business objectives and provide technical expertise.
  • Develop and mentor manufacturing talent: Identify, recruit, and develop high-performing manufacturing talent, providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Drive innovation and technological advancements: Foster a culture of innovation within the manufacturing team, encouraging the exploration and implementation of new technologies, automation, and digitalization to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement: Champion a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other best practices to optimize production processes.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement: Create and nurture a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing organization, driving a relentless pursuit of operational excellence.
  • Lead a culture of inclusion and belonging, promoting member engagement, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead multiple manufacturing teams: Provide strategic direction and leadership to multiple manufacturing teams, aligning their efforts with overall business objectives and ensuring consistent performance across the organization.
  • Manage large-scale manufacturing projects: Oversee the execution of large-scale manufacturing projects, effectively managing risks, resources, and stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Operations Management, Business or similar field of study
  • Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
  • Work Experience: 7 years manufacturing/operations experience with Bachelor’s Degree OR 5 years manufacturing/operations experience with Master’s Degree
  • Supervisory Experience: 3 years supervisory experience
  • Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
  • Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering, Operations Management, Business or related field.
  • Can demonstrate operational transformation / improvement results using lean methodology/process/tools
  • Prior budget management experience
  • Experience leading Supervisors and/or Team Leaders in a manufacturing environment
  • Furniture manufacturing experience; ideally in a wood manufacturing plant
  • Familiarity with make-to-order or mixed model manufacturing environments
  • Success leading multi shift operations with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Proven track record of driving accountability through KPIs and daily management systems
  • Strong background in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience reducing waste, scrap, and rework in a high variability manufacturing environment
  • Experience collaborating with supply chain, engineering, facilities, and product development teams
