Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Support Specialist to join our team onsite in Holland, MI. 

As a Senior Payroll Support Specialist, you will be responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of multi‑state payroll. The position serves as an experienced payroll professional who ensures payroll data integrity across payroll, timekeeping, and HR systems; resolves complex payroll inquiries; and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.  

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and process hourly and salaried payrolls, ensuring accurate calculation and timely payment of wages, deductions, and taxes in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Audit time and attendance data to ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, company policies, and pay practices; identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing.
  • Ensure payroll processing adheres to established internal controls, audit standards, and legal requirements; support audits and respond to requests for payroll documentation and validation.
  • Respond to payroll related inquiries from employees, managers, and external partners; research and resolve complex payroll issues using established reference materials and cross functional collaboration.
  • Process court ordered garnishments and related payments in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements, system updates, and testing activities related to payroll and timekeeping systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Military Equivalency at www.mynextmove.org/vets/find/military

Experience: 

  • 3 years of payroll experience. 

Additionally:

  • Ability to work in Holland, MI, without relocation assistance.
  • Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to support Spanish-speaking employees in navigating various human resources questions or concerns.
  • ADP experience.
  • Multi-state and large corporation (2,000+ employees) payroll processing experience. 
  • SHRM or CPP certification.
