We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Ludington, MI.
Job Overview
This Manufacturing Engineer role offers hands on experience working with a powder coat system while tackling meaningful challenges. The position applies engineering knowledge and experience to a variety of projects involving manufacturing facilities and systems. It requires independent problem solving within established guidelines, along with close collaboration with colleagues to deliver effective solutions. You’ll be part of a close knit team in a plant known for its strong culture and supportive environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing designs: Analyze product and manufacturing designs to determine optimal solutions, considering cost, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Climb/bend/balance/twist/reach/lift.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product engineering, production, and suppliers, to ensure seamless manufacturing integration.
- Conduct manufacturing tests and analysis: Conduct manufacturing tests and analyze results to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes: Develop and implement manufacturing processes, including material selection, tooling design, and equipment specification.
- Prepare engineering documentation: Prepare engineering documentation, including Enterprise Change Management (ECMs), Request for Expenditures (RFEs), and cost analyses, to support project implementation.
- Stay current on industry trends: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in manufacturing materials, equipment, and regulations.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues: Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues in areas assigned and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
- Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Packaging or similar relevant field of study
- Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
- Work Experience: 2 years engineering related experience
- Must be able to climb, bend, balance, twist, reach, and lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs.
- Applicants must be able to work in Ludington, MI without relocation assistance.
- Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with powder coat systems, including paint booths, hand spray, conveyors, wash lines, and burn-off processes
- Prior manufacturing experience, preferably in environments with powder coating operations
- Understanding of coating processes, racking design, and process controls with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to troubleshoot independently while collaborating effectively with cross functional teams
- Experience working in smaller or remote plant settings with limited on-site engineering support
- Ability to analyze quality and production data (FPY, scrap, audits) and drive corrective actions
- Familiarity with equipment setup, formula adjustments, and process optimization
- Commitment to safety, quality, and integrity in all improvement initiatives
- Experience participating in audits, gemba walks, and tier or quality meetings
- Basic knowledge of purchasing systems, budgeting, or capital request processes
