Job Summary
Join our highly skilled Model Shop team and play a key role in bringing innovative products to life! As a Model Maker, you'll leverage your expertise in machine operation, materials, and processes to fabricate a wide range of models, prototypes, and dies.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll partner with teams across the business, from New Product Engineering to Tailored Solutions, on projects ranging from simple to incredibly complex. You'll have the opportunity to work with diverse equipment and cutting-edge technology, including CAD software, to create precision metal parts and support the development of custom products. The start and end times for this position are flexible. Most model makers on the team are in the 6:00am-2:30pm range. Flexibility is also available to work 7:00am - 4:00pm.

Job Responsibilities
- Act as subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, defining and assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
- Develop and implement process improvements, tooling upgrades, and equipment modifications to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Manage projects related to new product introduction, process optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Conduct feasibility studies, analyze data, and present recommendations to management on manufacturing-related issues.
- Mentor and train team members on technical skills, problem-solving techniques, and company procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, production, and suppliers, to resolve manufacturing challenges and achieve business objectives.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve manufacturing operations.
- Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
- Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years experience delivering technical solutions in manufacturing
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to work extra hours as required based on project deadlines and workload (Some Saturdays could be required)
- Ability to frequently lift material and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 200 pounds (assistance given with heavier objects)
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of projects in Model Shop
- Ability to frequently bend and occasionally climb ladders

- Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance
- Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, Fine Arts or relevant field of study
- 5 or more years of model maker experience
- 5 or more years of machine operation experience
- Wood working experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- CAD experience; Pro E or AutoCAD a plus
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues and find creative solutions during the fabrication process
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to precision: Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Certified journeyman Model Maker, Tool and Die Maker, Sheet Metal Worker, or Patternmaker
- Prioritization between tasks
- Assembly and hand tool experience
