Job Summary
Lead a team of engineering professionals, overseeing their performance and development while driving results within the focus of Haworth's current and future products in the areas of power distribution, wired and wireless charging, A/V, batteries, cable management, building automation systems and other office electrical/electronic technology. Conduct cost reduction activities to determine material, labor, and overhead costs. Investigate and analyzes competitive products to determine product performance, costs, and packaging methods. Provides technical direction to other staff members and interfaces at all organizational levels. Manage resources, adapt plans, and make decisions to address operational challenges, ensuring projects align with departmental goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including product management, manufacturing, sales, and marketing, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies and initiatives aligned with overall business objectives.
- Works closely with project teams during concept phase to ensure concepts selected can be designed and manufactured to meet product requirements and cost expectations.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within engineering processes, implementing changes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establishes and documents product requirements for new and existing products. Trains team to use Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) as method to record product expectations and document results.
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of engineering professionals, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
- Manage departmental budgets, allocate resources effectively, and track expenses to ensure financial responsibility.
- Oversee the execution of complex engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- Must be able to perform all essential job function with/without accommodation.
- Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of electrical product design and development experience.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
- Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
- Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 or more years of electrical product design and development experience.
- 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with low voltage products, creating and improving power distribution systems tailored for office environments, including workstations, conference rooms, and collaborative spaces. Ability to tell that the product is manufacturable.
- Project Management: Leading projects from concept to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Conducting rigorous testing and validation of power solutions to meet safety and performance standards.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnosing and resolving issues with existing power systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal functionality.
- Team Leadership: Managing and mentoring a team of engineers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Industry Knowledge: Staying updated on the latest trends and technologies in power solutions and office furniture integration.
- Product testing experience
- Experience with code compliance agencies (i.e. UL)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information
