Job Overview

We are currently looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Holland. The level hired in at will be based on experience.

 

As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

Drives tactical execution and assists with strategic execution of all aspects and phases of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), manufacturing plans, training, documentation, tooling, capacity, test equipment, training, and compliance issues.  Supports new product launch as well as supports current production continuous improvement projects 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports Manufacturing portions of new product implementation, working closely with production facilities, launch teams, and other key functions to deliver robust and controlled process for particular product.
  • Creates documentation for Production facilities to use, including, but not limited to, routings, process flows, Value Stream maps, Process Failure Mode and Effective Analysis (PFMEAs), work instructions, training matrix, and Advanced Product and Quality Plan (APQP) documentation related to Manufacturing.  Performs process and material flow analysis.  Develops manufacturing process techniques and equipment to improve productivity during pre-production design phases and in production until product meets requirements of production facility.
  • Develops manufacturing and test strategies, tooling requirements, and specifications for manufacturing and testing equipment, ensuring completion of detailed manufacturing plan that has been agreed upon by Manufacturing team for each finished product.
  • Completes “Safety Signoff” and “Potential Ergonomics Issues List” evaluations on equipment required on Manufacturing floor for new product launch, ensuring corporate ergonomic standards are met.
  • Coordinates projects, ensuring commitments and deadlines are met.
  • Facilitates continuous improvements, using Haworth Manufacturing System (HMS) tools, within functional areas and throughout facility to improve processes, drive cycle time reduction, and automate where applicable.
  • Oversees new equipment design, both internally and externally, to meet specific needs of product.
  • Effectively participates in cross-functional teams to ensure DFM, quality, safety, cycle time, and other requirements are met.
  • Manages current production process improvement projects as required, ensuring project-specific goals are met.
  • Generates capital requirements and cost budgets to support business plans and financial justifications.
     

Do you have these required qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Technology, or equivalent job specific work experience
  • Minimum 6 years engineering experience (4 years engineering experience if you have completed a Masters degree)
  • Ability climb/bend/balance in manufacturing environment and lift/move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Ability to work and commute onsite daily to our headquarters in Holland, MI without relocation assistance


 

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Experience with fabric (cut, sew, wrap, upholstery)
  • Experience in furniture, automotive, automation, steel fabrication, or equipment build industry
  • Cross functional experience in finance, engineering and new product launch (equipment specification/procurement/execution)

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, trip reports, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.
  • Ability to work within mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • PC and keyboard/mouse skills required, including working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Able to work in development-oriented team environment.
