Job Overview

We are currently looking for a 2nd shift Manufacturing Tech to join our laminated panels plant.  


As a Manufacturing Technician I - Holland, MI Onsite 2nd sft, you will:

Serve as subject matter expert to train hourly members in operation and maintenance of complex manufacturing equipment and processes. Develop and maintain standard work for equipment for which responsible for. Audit member performance to standard work to ensure conformance. Report all defective equipment and potential safety hazards to Engineer and/or Production Supervisor. Partner with maintenance to ensure performance of all maintenance functions to assure ongoing health of equipment.


Job Responsibilities 

  • Develops and maintains standard work for equipment for which he/she is responsible.  Audits member performance to standard work to ensure conformance.
  • Trains members in proper operation and maintenance of equipment, including, but not limited to, startup, operation, changeover, shutdown, and operator preventative maintenance, to ensure self-reliance of members operating equipment.
  • Trains members to operate equipment safely at standard work cycle times to meet corporate safety goals and assure performance to productivity standards.
  • May substitute for other operators and operate equipment (not to exceed 25 percent) to maintain expertise (four-square trained).
  • Orders tooling and trains members to manage tooling changes to ensure good balance between part quality and tooling costs.
  • Maintains Haworth quality standards to ensure aesthetic and dimensional control of processed parts.
  • Reports all defective equipment and potential safety hazards to Engineer and/or Production Supervisor.  Writes necessary work orders to Maintenance for correction of problems.
  • Partners with maintenance to ensure performance of all maintenance functions to assure ongoing health of equipment.

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years successful related machine operation experience 
  • Flexibility to work other shifts for training purposes, vacation, and support coverage 
  • Ability to be frequently exposed to dirt, dust, noise, and small particulate matter. May require repeated and sustained lifting and reaching. Repeated bending at knees; may have constant forward flexed spine.
  • Must wear protective clothing in specific work areas; hearing and eye protection required
  • Ability to work 2nd shift.
  • Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without visa or sponsorship assistance.

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Experience training others on technical manufacturing equipment
  • Experience doing preventative maintenance on technical manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with process documentation – updating, reviewing, helping develop.
  • Familiar with chemicals used in machines.
  • Experience looking up parts in an ERP system.
  • Experience in office furniture industry.

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

  • PC and keyboard/mouse skills
  • Exposure to and competency in lean improvement initiatives
  • Good organization and follow-through skills
  • Constant mental and visual attention
