Job Overview

We are currently looking for paid Model Maker Interns to join our team in Holland, MI.  This position will be working onsite at the Haworth Corporate Headquarters Plant. 

Get ready for an adventurous summer as a Haworth intern! You'll join a cohort of around 50 other dynamic interns for a 12-week program packed with hands-on learning. After a few weeks, you’ll be attending NeoCon, the largest commercial design event in the world. There you will get an insider's look at all the latest industry trends and innovations. Throughout the summer you will dive into real projects that will give you a taste of what it's like to work in a leading business and manufacturing environment.

Each week brings new experiences as a group. Sharpen your skills with interactive workshops on networking, public speaking, and using AI tools in a business environment. Connect with mentors and see all areas of the office and manufacturing processes. Then unwind at intern-only social events where you can meet people from all corners of the business. By the end of the summer, you'll leave with real skills, an expanded professional network, and memories to last a lifetime. This is your chance to take your career to new heights!

Working with model shop team, you will have the opportunity to learn supervision, coordination, project management, and be technical executive of the work, working on different materials and machines. You will also have the opportunity to assist with a variety of exciting projects including: building case goods, fabricating simple bracketry, wood working, simple machining, upholstery, and welding.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Part-time or full-time college enrollment who have completed or will complete an associate’s degree in Prototype and Design or Model Design by the Fall of 2025. (Similar degree or certifications may be considered) 
  • Ability to work On-site in Holland, MI from May 2025 to August 2025.
  • Applicant must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for the position.
  • Ability to bend and climb in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. alone, and up to 100lbs, with accommodations.
  • Ability to read blueprints, utilize Geometry, and calculate tolerances.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Woodworking, Metal Fabrication, Welding, and Surface Finishing.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Overall GPA of 2.95 or higher
  • Prior Haworth Experience
  • Previous Employment Experience
  • Extra-Curricular Activity Experience such as athletics, clubs, volunteer work, etc.
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design Software (CAD). 

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Desire to learn, question, and research solutions to problems.
  • Organized with the ability to manage deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Open mindedness with the willingness and ability to embrace change.
