Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Senior Commodity Material Planner to join our team in Holland, MI.
As a Senior Commodity Material Planner, you are:
Responsible for procuring raw materials within the textiles supply chain, ensuring optimal inventory levels while navigating volatile market conditions and complex logistical challenges. This role will focus on high-risk, specialized commodities, often with limited supplier bases and extended lead times, to meet demanding customer specifications. A key aspect of this role involves identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that optimize inventory management practices and align with overall company objectives.
Essential Functions
- Manages long lead time international or domestic materials with multiple supply chain complexities, including manufacturing processes and logistics, in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to support customer commitments.
- Purchases and tracks textile materials as requested by customer to ensure customer’s expectations are met.
- Coordinates products with volatile demand requirements to achieve customer satisfaction and inventory objectives.
- Supports and implements system enhancements to improve applications which support planning process.
- Assists with creating tools to better manage and analyze data to support continuous improvement opportunities.
- Monitors excess inventory, end-of-life, and lifetime buy analysis. Coordinates disposition of excess material and facilitates sale and disposal of usable material to eliminate obsolete materials.
- Supports and provides recommendations to define replenishment methods and planning (i.e., Make To Order [MTO], Make To Stock [MTS], Configure To Order [CTO], and safety stock) in fully integrated system environment to ensure effective delivery to customer.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
- Must be able to perform all essential job function with/without accommodation.
- Ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of ERP system(s).
- Understanding/knowledge of Systems, Applications, Processes (SAP) Advanced Planning Optimization (APO) production data structure (Production Planning/Detail Scheduling [PPDS]) and integration between Enterprise Core Component (ECC) and APO preferred.
- Ability to develop alternative solutions for non-system support activities.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and affect short term and some long term business goals.
- Excellent project management and relationship building skills are essential for this role.
- Understanding of full supply chain integration touch points, from order acceptance to delivery.
- Strong analytical and systems skills, including Microsoft suite and PowerBi capabilities.
- Ability to perform cost benefit analysis while understanding impacts to key performance indicators (KPIs).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or similar field of study.
- 5 years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment. (3 years experience with Master's Degree)
- Applicant must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for the position.

Preferred Qualifications
- Fabric/Textile supply chain experience.
